Prof. Dr.-Ing Dr. h. c. Wilhelm Schabel studied process engineering and received his doctor (with distinction) in the field of film drying and was honored with the Carl-Freudenberg Award for his Phd by the University of Karlsruhe (TH). In 2007, he worked as R&D engineer at LONZA Foils (LOFO High Tech Film). In 2007 and 2008 his research results were honored with the Arnold-Eucken Award by VDI in Germany and with the L. E. Scriven Award in the US by the International Society of Coating Science & Technology (ISCST). Prof. Schabel is engaged in significant national and international coating & drying committees, such as DECHEMA/ProcessNet, ECS and ISCST as past Vice President of the ISCST and current Vice President of the European Coating Society and Chairman of ECS 2009 in Karlsruhe and ECS 2019 in Heidelberg. The Research of his group has been honored so far with 25 research & best poster awards on national and international conferences. Prof. Schabel is an expert in film drying & coating technology and (co-)author of more than 125 ISI journal publication with a high impact in his research field.
